Floreat

Floreat is a vocal ensemble – usually but not always an octet – originating from and associated with the main choir.  Directed by Gilly French, the a capella group performs without a conductor.

The group was established from Cantandum in 2008 to sing the termly Choral Eucharist services at St John’s Smith Square.   Our inaugural event as Floreat took place in October 2016, at Westminster Abbey Chapter House, and we now give concerts regularly in the Westminster area and beyond.

In the spring of 2021, Floreat was honoured to accept an invitation to become Associate Musicians of St Stephen’s Rochester Row, a church with which we have a strong, established relationship and which has become our new rehearsal base.

We specialise in Renaissance polyphony, but do stray occasionally into later repertory!
